What is the KBC API Market?

It’s a platform of financial API’s from KBC Bank & Insurance Belgium. Companies or developers that are interested in using the API’s from our API Market can sign up and test them in a secure Sandbox environment. Please contact us for any further questions.

Is there any cost to use the API’s?

There is no cost associated with accessing and using the APIs in the sandbox environment. Using the APIs in production environment has a cost based on the services to consume and their intended use. Contact us for more information.

Security is important to us. The sandbox and the live environment meet the latest security standards.

Is there a swagger?

Yes. Swagger definition for our APIs is available on the developer portal. You can access them once you have completed the registration process.

What can be done in the sandbox?

Our sandbox provides an opportunity for developers to test their app before building in production. The sandbox is a safe, secure environment where you can test your apps functionality and test our API integrations with your apps.

I am getting a 400 (bad request) HTTP status code. What went wrong?

  • Request received without a mandatory parameter
  • Request received with bad parameters (invalid format) values
  • Request received with execution-date in past
  • Request received with amount<=0
  • Request received with currency other than EUR
  • Request received with same account for sender and receiver
  • Request received with incorrect debtor/creditor account or incorrect structured communication
  • Request received with invalid execution-date (weekend e.g.)

I am getting a 401 (unauthorized) or 403 (forbidden) HTTP status code. What went wrong?

  • Request received without or with invalid client certificate
  • Request received with invalid values for Oauth2 Security related parameters
  • Request received with invalid access_token  

I forgot my password to get access to the developer portal. How can I request a new one?

Click on the link ‘forgot password?’ on the login page. Please provide your username, not your e-mail address. You will receive an e-mail to reset your password.

Your customers has power of attorney for a KBC account. A power of attorney is personal and non-transferable. Given this, may your customer give permission for account information to be shared with third parties?

Under the current power of attorney, the customer – as an agent holding power of attorney – may not share account information with third parties. For the customer to be able to do so, the principal must grant specific authorisation. The customer can contact KBC to find out more about this at his KBC Bank branch.

How can I report issues?

Please send an e-mail to with the following information:

  • The date and the hour when the issue occurred
  • The IBAN of the customer
  • Operating system (IOS, Android)
  • Version of the operating system
  • The error message that was displayed (if applicable)
  • Some screenshots of the flow where the problem occured

To be compliant with GDPR, please only send us the IBAN of the customer when you inform us about an issue. KBC does not need other personal information.
